If you are a die hard rock fan and live in Kansas City, Missouri, then you will recognize the name Load Point Pull. The featured artist this week has opened for Puddle of Mudd and Ratt. Load Point Pull has also played in well know festivals in Kansas City, Missouri, like Rockfest and Worth Stock Harley Davidson. They are an inspiration to other young artists and local bands to never stop playing.
Some artist's unique style is their music or their stage presentation, but with Load Point Pull the personality of the band members is their strongest asset. They are the type of band that would play a heavy metal song opening up for Michael Jackson. Trends are not in their dictionary. They are true to the style of music that they present. Their lyrics are geared towards overcoming life challenges and the strength to never be defeated. The inspiration for their lyrics comes from watching political points of view and the news.
Their name "Load Point Pull" sounds like a group guys that just registered with a gun association. Originally the band name “Low Point Pull” was created by Frank, who wanted to the band name to represent center of gravity. Fate of the band name was not on Franks side as he communicated the name with Doug in a phone conversation. Doug heard "Load Point Pull" during that conversation. He printed out the flyers for their opening act at a Puddle of Mudd show. By the time flyers were printed and handed out, it was too late to go back and change the band name.
The band members Ryan (guitar), Toby (drums), Frank (vocals) and Doug (bass), currently have three cd’s released. They are a heavy metal band with a solid sound that keeps fans coming back to their show. They are one of the few bands that a fan will admit on radio that she won tickets to see Load Point Pull and did not care about seeing Ratt. The story unfolded as Doug was telling his craziest fan story. During a drive to work listening to the Johnny Dare Show, he over heard a fan winning tickets to the Ratt show and claimed that she really wanted the tickets to see Load Point Pull. The DJ quickly responded to her reply by inquiring if she was sleeping with a band member. As shocking as it was, she replied that her affairs was with Doug. Talk about car stopping since Doug was the only married band member. The fan did email Doug and apologizes for the announcement. She admitted to be nervous on air and did not know what to say. The affair was completely untrue and we could only hope Doug’s wife was not listening to the Johnny Dare Show that morning.
The show on July 4th, 2007, had the Kansas City fans worried as Frank collapsed on stage during the performance. Fans offering Frank an alcoholic beverage served in a watermelon thinking he just needed a drink; band members thought Frank was just rolling around on stage. They later found out that Frank was suffering from a heart attack during the performance and was rushed to the hospital that evening. Frank had a wonderful recovery and seems to be doing well as he played at Aftershock last weekend with H Gage.
Fan Question “If you could change anything about the Kansas City Music Scene, what would it be?” Load Point Pull responded with an eye opener. Kansas City's music scene has always been about battle of the bands. The fans come in the door to see their favorite band then leave. They would like to see bands working together and putting together a show where fans would stay for all the performances and support all of the performances.
Don’t forget to check out their myspace and face book page as well.
Thanks to Load Point Pull for their time. I would also like to give a special thanks to Aftershock and Stratgazer Entertainment.
