LA Guns with John Corabi
Wild night at Aftershocks Bar and Grill located in Merriam, Kansas.  Stratgazer Entertainment brings Kansas City, Missouri some of the best shows.  This showcase presented Last Call and The Rock Show, Mind Trick, Obsidian, John Corabi and LA Guns with Tracii Guns.  Now that I pimped out all the promotional information, let’s get to the good stuff.

Last Call and The Rock Show are my personal friends and favorite in Kansas City, Missouri.  I am bias when it comes to their shows, so I tend to refrain from bragging about them too much.  They were a great opener to kick off the show.  For those of you that have never been to a Last Call and The Rock Show performance, here is a little side story of their shows.  Teak (rhythm guitar) is known to

perform magic for the crowd during sets.  Frankie (lead vocalist) does a wide variety of  cover music but seems to find a way to make the song feel like it is hers.  Dave (bass) is one of the newest members but  fits in with the band and I hope he stays.  Paul (drummer) performs an outstanding drum solo.  Andy (lead guitar) adds the spice to the sound.  Goldie (backup vocalist) is not only cute but has a good stage presence.  I have never been disappointed when I go to their shows.  The show includes laser lights, fog, bubbles, beads, suckers and good music.  Last Call and The Rock Show can be found at www.lastcall.us

Next in line was Mind Trick, a three piece rock band.  The band consists of Jay (bass), Mike (guitar and vocalist) and Bill (drums).  Mind Trick is one of Kansas City older bands that has been well known in the music industry for their talent.  We will have an upcoming interview with Mind Trick, to hear their story.

Obsidian, consists of Nikk (vocalist), Hunter (bass), Zakk (drums) and Steven (guitarist).  Obsidian has come a long way in the last couple of years.  Last year you could see the band struggling to find their stage presentation and defining their image.  The band started with a song opener, little bit of a light show and a more powerful stage presence.  Nikk’s vocal talents are different then what Kansas City is use to hearing.  You could hear the fans talk about which song was their favorite.

John Corabi and Tracii Guns show was as you would expect it.  They gave the fans what they wanted, a show.  Anyone that has seen their show already knows all about their stage performance and show.  The story with both of these bands was actually behind the scenes.  After the show, the VIP All Access members, were given the opportunity to go on the party bus with the band.  As glamorous as this sounds, it’s not what you would think.  The party bus did not leave the parking lot until after 2am and a few of us choose to just follow the bus.  On the way to our destination, a car was pulled over and all of us where just hoping it was no one in our party.  When we arrived 40 minutes later, everyone dragged themselves off the bus.  The energy from the stage performance and the loading of the equipment  just zapped everyone’s party ambition.   The party was at a  house that was just spectacular as if it were built for parting with rock stars.  Acoustic and electric guitars hung from the walls along with memorabilia photos.

The party that the young artists itched to be at was happening but I don’t think it was their idea of a party.  There were no crazy women hanging out beside me snooping around to bring you a story.  It was a group of guys and a few girls just hanging out with a few drinks talking about shows and people we know.  It was more of a social gathering with heavy eyelids and looks of pure exhaustion.  Seeing the band members take the guitars off the wall and start playing them was the most memorable sight.  You could see the love they have for playing instruments.  There was no stage show, no lights, no fans just the artists being themselves and playing a tune.  I could have stayed all night just sitting there listening to them play.  Listening to them exchange stage stories was like sitting around a camp fire talking about ghost stories.  The stories were funny but will always be in the back of their minds the next time they get on stage.

Hanging out with LA Guns, John Corabi and Faster Pussycats was memorable.  I was also quickly reminded that the band members do this for living and living life on the road is difficult.  They need fans to come to shows and support the live entertainment.  I want to give a special thanks to the bands, Stratgazer Entertainment and Aftershock.
