Hellevate is a young, eager band in Kansas City, playing Metal style with inspiration from old genre of musicians like Iron Maid to newer musicians like Tool. The band was formed by Danowar in 2007, finding his current line up in 2009. The band consist of Ryan (vocals), Zack (bass), RJ (Drums) and Danowar (Guitar). For those of you with inquiring minds, Danowar and RJ are brothers, were the relationship of Zack started at The Paul Green School of Rock Music and Ryan with a friendship.
It is always fascinating to hear where the band members come up with their name. Hellevate started the name with the scheme of raising hell and what words would describe that emotion. It ended up as a joke of their school with a Christian band name that was similar and the Hellevate was accused of making fun of the Christian
band as if there was a battle between good and evil band style. With battle of bands starting with the naming convention, their first show was at the Beaumont hosted by Gorilla Productions in a battle of a band. Then Hellevate moved on to the California Dream contest hosted by Stratgazer Entertainment. Hellevate is now finding their self opening for more touring acts in Kansas City as they recently opened for Psychostick at Aftershock.
Fan Question "What are your lyrics about?"
Their song preparing for war is about the wars we fought for our freedom. The American flag they bring out during their performance is a presentation of patriotism in their stand for freedom. Also not all fans agree with this representation, they mean no disrespect to our flag as it is a vital symbol and reminder of what our freedom means. Their other songs are about science fiction and dealing with difficult people.
Currently Hellevate is recording and they are anxious for the cd release by the fall of 2010. You can find Hellevate at www.hellevate.com, on myspace and facebook.
