California Dream Contest at Aftershock
H Gage - Winner of California Dream Contest at Aftershock,
hosted by Stratgazer Entertainment.
The California Dream contest featured a panel of judges
that critique band on their performance, showmanship,
originality and crowd interaction. The judges consist of
promoters, marketing agents, merchants, musicians and
online radio host. The contest was tough; the judge’s
comments were encouraging and hard to swallow.
How did H Gage win, well ask the band members, it was a lot of work. The first round for
H Gage the score sheets were filled with comments from the judges on their weakness and strengths.
The judges would hope that all comments given to the bands were a useful tool in helping them
improve their stage show and/or music. In seeing how H Gage second performance was done, H
Gage appeared to take the comments seriously; leaving the judges impressed.
The finals for California Dream Contest put difficulty as being a small adjective to describe the
complexity to the competition. What separated H Gage from the rest of the bands? Their stage
presence, David Pilgrim vocalist of H Gage sang powerful lyric while being up close and personal
with the fans. Dustin Taylor lead guitar used a beer bottle as a slide playing at least four measures of
the song. Barefooted bassist Sam Gomer rocked out making bass playing look easy. Drummer Chris
Quijas, whether he was shirtless or not, it is always great seeing the drummer stand-up every once in
a while during the performance twirling drum sticks.
Whether the other contests agree or not, H Gage brought a show to win the grand prize of playing at
Whiskey Go-Go in California. H Gage make Kansas City proud showing California the talent is here
in Kansas City.
