Chubby Carrier
There ain’t no party like a Chubby party and the Chubby party don’t stop.  The Chubby party happens at least twice a year at Knuckleheads saloon and have been famous for their Chubby Carrier cruise parties.

Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp bands started in 1989, they are zydeco artist.  Chubby Carrier is a third generation zydeco artist that followed in his father’s foot steps.  For a while his son AJ who was the drummer for the Bayou Swamp band played in the band as a fourth generation artist.  We recently learned that AJ got married and was living the family life right now.  His new drummer has only been on tour with them the last month.  Randy (bass), Earl and Randy (guitarist) are also part of the Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.  Earl, well his instrument is not common in this part of town, plays spoons on a chest piece.  The band makes you feel like you are in Louisiana.

The interesting fact about the Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band is they are not under a record label or management company.  They felt it was important to stay true to who they are.   Chubby Carrier does all of the bookings.  They generally perform four days a week.  The have nine cds currently available for purchase and their tenth cd was released this year "Zydeco Junkie".

Bayou Swamp Band
The fans favorite song and the song Chubby wishes he could just throw out is "Who stole the hot sauce."  Who stole the hot sauce became popular because of Earl’s brilliant idea of bring out a bottle of hot sauce and pouring drops of hot sauce in fans mouths.  As soon as the song starts, fans start lining up the stage all awaiting for their turn at getting the taste of hot sauce.

The band is daring when they invite fans onto the stage during their performance when they play "Shake It"  Oh how the ladies love to get on stage and shake it with Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp band. The band members find this part of the performance challenging because fans tend to prohibit them from playing or manage to turn the show into PG13.  So ladies, be kind to the gentlemen on stage.  There is always an after party.

Kansas City is one of Chubby Carrier and the Bayou

Swamp Bands favorite places to play.  This past weekend they played at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City, Missouri.  I am sure that show will go down in their history books.  During the performance it started to rain but that did not scare away the fans, the fans continue to dance in the rain.  The dance floor was shoulder to shoulder with people shaking, hopping and singing.  A few of the fans found enough space to swing dance on the floor.  I believe Earl just had his most embarrassing moment on stage right here in Kansas City.  Earl loves to invite ladies on stage, let them wear the chest plate while he plays spoons.  Fans seem to love it too.  One fan decided to thank Earl for the invitation with a good old fashion flash of the boobs.

Fan question for Chubby Carrier "What was your most embarrassing moment on stage?"  I had to laugh when I hear this because I am sure it happens just some don’t want to admit it.  Chubby said it is always embarrassing when you get on stage and you find out your pants are unzipped.  I am not sure which part was embarrassing the fans pointing their fingers and starring or the part where the zipper had a fear of heights.

Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band did want to give a special thanks to their fans.  They said that traveling and preparation for a show is a lot of work but when they get on the stage and see the fans it makes it all worth it.  The fans is what keeps them playing.

For the fans that have not been to a show, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band always has a party going on somewhere.  They have been on cruise line ships doing live performances.  They will be back in Kansas City September 24th at Fat Fish Blue and December 4th at Knuckleheads Saloon.
