California Dream Contest Round 2 starting in August
Stratgazer Entertainment is gearing up for another entertaining round of California Dream contest starting in August. California Dream contest is a band competition with a panel of judges. The winner plays at the famous Whiskey Go Go in California with trip expenses paid.
How does California Dream contest work? The panel of judges at every show, critique bands on their performance, crowd interaction, unique style, preparedness and fan votes. What does that mean to the bands? The difference between you making it to the finals. Here is out the score sheets work:

1. Each band is capable of receiving up to 30 points.
2. In order to receive your full points on preparedness, the band must be ready to play their set with a quick set up and tear down. This means, instruments need to be tuned, set up and tear down must not be longer then 15 to 20 minutes.
3. Unique style, throwing in a crowd pleasing cover tune is acceptable however more then one cover song is frown upon. We are looking for an original band wanting to play their own music to market and promote their self.
4. The crowd interaction is a must in every show. The band needs to have the ability to grab the crowds attention.
5. The performance on stage must be strong and energetic. The difference between band making it and band not making it is their stage presence. Being in a band is about entertainment and you must do just that to move to the next round.
6. Fan votes, all fans have a chance to vote however you can only get up to 5 points for fan votes. This tends to be bonus points for the bands that score low in other areas.
Band need to remember that the panel of judges consist of musicians, promoters and professionals. Some of the judges have a hearing for the smallest mistakes made on stage while others interest are on the entertainment. The information they give you on the score sheets are meant to help you make it the business or in the next round.
The biggest tips you can receive in helping you through the California Dream contest can be found in band articles and listen to the advise given. Video tape your performance and as a group sit down and discuss what looks stupid and what works for you, don’t be afraid to point out the flaws because the person may not realize just how bad it looks or sounds. Watch other bands perform. The biggest mistake seen in the first round of California Dream contest is musicians spent too much time with their backs to the audience and too much time looking at the chores they play. You are entertainers, don’t forget that.
