"Who wants bacon?" has a whole new meaning in Kansas. August 28th the Bacon Fest was hosted in Waldo Kansas City. Bacon Fest was a fundraiser event for The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City. The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City helps adults and children with disabilities. They specialize in spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, stroke, birth defect, developmental delay and neurological disorders.
The Bacon Fest was complete with a bacon eating contest and a variety of bacon dishes provided by local restaurants. The bacon dishes were judged by three of the top chefs in Kansas City. Featured artist for the event was the Baconators and H Gage. Baconators are a unique cover band that was put to together for this event. Drew, the drummer for Baconators, performed an outstanding set closer with Rappers Delight. H Gage, the winner of the California Dream Contest hosted by Stratgazer Entertainment, was the closing band.
Unknown to most participants, the Bacon Fest party did not stop at Waldo Kansas City. Later that evening, the party carried over to Aftershock in Merriam Kansas for an after party. The bands that perform at the after party were Pull, H Gage and Woo Soul.

Events such as this are a great way to bring awareness to the community. But the needs to help organizations like The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City can’t stop at fund raising events. People with disabilities need help every day. Majority of us will not understand what it is like to live with a disabilities or understand what it is like to live with someone that has a disability.
